Radio and televisions in Britain

Most families in Britain have a radio set, though they say that they don`t listen to the radio very often. BBC programs are on the air from six in the morning until twelve o`clock at night. Among the programs are comments and discussions, interviews with various people, broadcasts for school, plays, serious and light music. The main news bulletins are followed by light music, short plays and sketches. A special program consists mainly of informative talks and instructions in subjects, such as foreign languages, gardening, cooking, education. Television, which is called TV or the tally, is very popular in Britain. Television programs are broadcast every evening, and at certain times of the date too. Viewers are able to watch “live” transmissions of different events, news, interviews, educational programs, theatrical and musical performances and many others. Films are televised, and some are specially made for television.

The greatest role in movement of freight and passengers is played by rail transport. The railway network has some 22,000 km of track. Railways crossing Ukraine ensure communication with many countries of Europe. The largest railway junctions are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dniprpopetroysk, Zaporizhia. Road transport is important over short distances. Buses are one of the principal forms of passenger transport within the provinces. Sea transport plays an important part in Ukraine’s economy. The Black Sea and Azov fleets consist of large-draught freight vessels. Odesa is the main Black Sea port. Mykolayiv, Kherson, Mariupol are also large ports of Ukraine. The ports of Ukraine ensure trade contacts with over 80 countries. River transport works closely with rail and sea transport. The length of navigable rivers in Ukraine is close to 5,000 km. Air transport has become one of the principal means of passenger and mail conveyance. Ukraine has many airports, the largest being in Kyiv, Lviv, Simferopol, Donetsk, Kharkiv. There are two airports in Kyiv: Boryspil  and Zhulyany Ukrainian National Bus Lines serve almost every city and town in Ukraine. The older fleet of buses would suffice for short trips, although sometimes are overcrowded and dirty. So, for the price, train travel is a more comfortable option. «Deluxe» Bus travel is, however, available also by private companies and is not a bad choice. All you’ll need in order to travel by car in Ukraine is your International Driving Permit, Proof of Insurance, and Nerves of Steel. Otherwise, it’s better to use a local Ukrainian driver with his own car. If you must, you can rent a car at major hotels in Kiev and through car rental agencies in all major cities in Ukraine.

Transport in Britain

You can reach England either by plane, by train, by car or by ship. The fastest way is by plane. London has three international airports: Heathrow, the largest, connected to the city by underground; Gatwick, south of London, with a
frequent train service; Luton, the smallest, used for charter flights. If you go to England by train or by car you have to cross the Channel. There is a frequent service of steamers and ferry-boats which connect the continent to the south-east of England. People in Britain drive on the left and generally overtake on the right. The speed limit is 30 miles per hour (50 km/h) in towns and cities and 70 m.p.h. (110 km/h) on motorways. When you are in London you can choose from four different means of transport: bus, train, underground or taxi. The typical bus in London is a red doub decker. The first London bus started running between Paddington and the City in 1829. It carried 40 passengers and cost a shilling for six kms. The next to arrive were the trains; now there are twelve railway stations in London. The world to arrive were the trains; now there are twelve railway stations in London. The world’s first underground line was opened between Baker St. and the City in 1863. Now there are ten underground lines and 273 underground stations in use. The London underground is also called the Tube, because of the circular shape of its deep tunnels.

Mother Fined For Son’s Absences.

An Ipswich mother, who allowed her son to go on holiday during school term, has been fined Ј400 after her son repeatedly refused to go to school. The 36-year-old mother, who can not be named for legal reasons, appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court yesterday where magistrates heard her 14-year-old son was currently on holiday in Spain.

She told that court: «He just does not like going to school. Although he is getting better now and seems to be enjoying it.» The boy has had 145 unauthorised absences between October 15 last year and March 22 this year. His absences were blamed on a late-night life style. The mother has been attending parenting classes voluntarily and told the court that she thought they were helping her. Out of the last eight school sessions — there are two a day — he has attended five. Chairman of the bench David Coe asked her if she thought she could get her son to school in future.»Yes I think I can with some help,» she said.

She told the court that he was on holiday during the time other pupils were doing work experience because he had not been given a place. On sentencing Mr Coe said: «He is not in school and then he disappears on holiday. We would expect the local authority to bring this back to court quickly if there are further problems.» She was fined Ј400 and ordered to pay Ј50. Yesterday’s case is the second to be dealt with by south east Suffolk magistrates recently. Last month a 37-year-old was fined Ј50 after her son had attended just 16 out of 182 sessions. And the cases follow national concern after Oxfordshire mother Patricia Amos was jailed for allowing her children to miss school. She was originally sentenced to 60 days’ jail, but this was reduced on appeal.

Урок № 24. Тема: Автомобіль в моєму житті

Nowadays, many people have their own cars. One of the most notable advantages of owning cars is that the car owners receive convenience and comfortable. I live in the countryside, and my community has only one train per an hour. That was very inconvenient for me. My life, however, totally became convenient after I had my own car. The car enables me to go anywhere and anytime. The car also gave me comfortable because I do not have to face anybody during driving. Driving car relaxes me more than taking public transport.

On the other hand, there are two considerable disadvantages in owning cars. The first drawback is air pollution. Automobiles emit exhaust that contains carbon dioxide. According to recent research conducted by the Japanese government, 20 percent of all amount of carbon dioxide emitted in 2010 was made up by automobiles. Now that there are a great number of cars in Japan, the amount of emitted carbon dioxide must be enormous.

The second disadvantage is a car accident. In recent years, traffic accidents have increased significantly in Japan. There are many cases that drivers arise a car accident by drinking alcohol. What is worse, some of the drivers killed passengers. Another research conducted by Japanese police department showed that more than one thousand traffic deaths happened in 2010. We have to take into consideration our safety when driving cars. In conclusion, automobiles give us convenience and comfortable whereas they are the causes of air pollution. In addition, they have a risk of fatal accidents.

The Car and the Environment

Car is the fast, cheap and reliable transport but it pollutes the air. Car releases toxic emissions from the combustion system in the atmosphere. Tires also damage the environment because tires are not biodegradable and they usually discard in a tire dump. Tires can burn for decades releasing smoke and haze into our environment. Travelling by automobile we also damage the water to supply with runoff lubricants, coolants and gas deposits. These runoffs get into the rivers and lakes through sewer systems. These toxic chemicals cause rapid growth of aquatic plants, which deplete water of dissolved oxygen, which then kills fish. We must use an electric resources of transportation or choose other forms of transportation that do not pollute the environment.

Sibylla: What are you reading so absorbedly, Glenn?

Glenn: It’s a booklet about environmental protection and the use of recycling. You should read it too. There is lots of useful information.

Sibylla: I see. That’s an interesting issue. I’m used to recycling plastic bottles, but what else can we recycle?

Glenn: Nearly everything. All items can be recycled for further creation of new products. Basically, the old and unwanted materials are put into new use instead of just throwing away.

Sibylla: I didn’t know about that. For me, recycling simply meant the reduction in the size of landfills.

Glenn: Well, it’s one of the most notable benefits that come from recycling. However nature and wildlife preservation is also important.

Sibylla: What do you mean by that?

Glenn: For example, paper recycling alone saves millions of trees. As we save trees from chopping, we save lots of wild animals, whose habitat is the forest or jungle.

Sibylla: Now, I understand. In that sense I fully support recycling. I don’t like that many animals become extinct. Last month I even participated in a campaign against animal testing.

Glenn: Unfortunately, most people don’t care about nature problems. Environmental protection is of no importance for them.

Sibylla: We could prepare a project on this topic and present it to the locals.

Glenn: Do you think we’ll have supporters?

Sibylla: Of course. I’m sure that many people are interested in clean environment and healthy surrounding.

Glenn: We could cover some other topics connected with environmental protection as well.

Sibylla: Which, for example?

Glenn: Apart from this booklet, I found an article in the magazine about various types of pollution, their harm and ways of avoidance.

Sibylla: Sounds like a good topic. I could give a speech about recycling, while you could prepare a speech about air, water and other types of pollution.

Glenn: I don’t mind. I can speak for hours about this topic. When it comes to pollution, the main source of harm is technological progress and factory tests. Modern factories throw into the environment so much waste that many sea animals die, people get sick, wildlife suffers.

Sibylla: What other types of environmental pollution do you know, except the air and water pollution?

Glenn: I know there exist noise and light pollution. There are also visual and thermal types of pollution.

Sibylla: Never heard of them. I wonder how these things happen?

Glenn: Imagine constant noise coming from airplanes, motor vehicles, construction process, etc. They all lead to high levels of human and animal stress. Bright street lamps, extra lights around the home negatively affect human health.

Sibylla: What about visual and thermal pollution?

Glenn: We speak about visual pollution, when numerous skyscrapers block the natural view. They make the cities look dull without enough sunlight in the streets. Excessive billboards are also considered to cause visual pollution. Thermal pollution can be caused by nearby manufacturers, when they pump warm and dirty water into natural water bodies.

Sibylla: That’s a rather complex topic. I would appreciate if you spoke about it. There are many issues which I’ve never heard or met before. I’m sure that many people in the town are just like me — illiterate in terms of environmental problems. So, they’d interested to learn something new

The night in prison was new and interesting enough. The prisoners were enjoying a chat and the evening air near the entrance, when I entered. But the guard said, “Come, boys, it is time to lock up”; and so they left, and I heard the sound of their steps returning into the hollow building. My roommate was introduced to me by the guard as “a first class fellow and a clever man.” When the door was locked, he showed me where to hang my hat, and how he managed things there. The rooms were whitewashed once a month; and this one, at least, was the whitest, most simply furnished, and probably neatest apartment in town. He had the reputation of being a clever man, had been there some three months waiting for his trial to come, and would have to wait that much longer; but he was quite domesticated and comfortable, since he got his food for nothing, and thought that he was well treated.

Transport in Ukraine

The greatest role in movement of freight and passengers is played by rail transport. The railway network has some 22,000 km of track. Railways crossing Ukraine ensure communication with many countries of Europe. The largest railway junctions are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dniprpopetroysk, Zaporizhia.

Road transport is important over short distances. Buses are one of the principal forms of passenger transport within the provinces.

Sea transport plays an important part in Ukraine’s economy. The Black Sea and Azov fleets consist of large-draught freight vessels. Odesa is the main Black Sea port. Mykolayiv, Kherson, Mariupol are also large ports of Ukraine. The ports of Ukraine ensure trade contacts with over 80 countries.

River transport works closely with rail and sea transport. The length of navigable rivers in Ukraine is close to 5,000 km.

Air transport has become one of the principal means of passenger and mail conveyance. Ukraine has many airports, the largest being in Kyiv, Lviv, Simferopol, Donetsk, Kharkiv. There are two airports in Kyiv: Boryspil  and Zhulyany.

Ukrainian National Bus Lines serve almost every city and town in Ukraine. The older fleet of buses would suffice for short trips, although sometimes are overcrowded and dirty. So, for the price, train travel is a more comfortable option. «Deluxe» Bus travel is, however, available also by private companies and is not a bad choice.

All you’ll need in order to travel by car in Ukraine is your International Driving Permit, Proof of Insurance, and Nerves of Steel. Otherwise, it’s better to use a local Ukrainian driver with his own car. If you must, you can rent a car at major hotels in Kiev and through car rental agencies in all major cities in Ukraine.

Nowadays, many people have their own cars. One of the most notable advantages of owning cars is that the car owners receive convenience and comfortable. I live in the countryside, and my community has only one train per an hour. That was very inconvenient for me. My life, however, totally became convenient after I had my own car. The car enables me to go anywhere and anytime. The car also gave me comfortable because I do not have to face anybody during driving. Driving car relaxes me more than taking public transport.

On the other hand, there are two considerable disadvantages in owning cars. The first drawback is air pollution. Automobiles emit exhaust that contains carbon dioxide. The second disadvantage is a car accident. There are many cases that drivers arise a car accident by drinking alcohol. What is worse, some of the drivers killed passengers. We have to take into consideration our safety when driving cars.

In conclusion, automobiles give us convenience and comfortable whereas they are the causes of air pollution. In addition, they have a risk of fatal accidents.

This question does not have a straightforward answer. The history of the automobile is very rich and dates back to the 15th century when Leonardo da Vinci was creating designs and models for transport vehicles. 
There are many different types of automobiles — steam, electric, and gasoline — as well as countless styles. Exactly who invented the automobile is a matter of opinion. If we had to give credit to one inventor, it would probably be Karl Benz from Germany. Many suggest that he created the first true automobile in 1885/1886.  DRIVING A CAR 

  Here is a list of good driving habits.  

  1. It is  dangerous  to  drive  too  close  to the car  in  front  of  you.  If it  stops  suddenly, you may not be able to brake in time and then you will crash into it.    2.  Overtake  the  car  in  front  of  you  with  great  care.  When  you  are  absolutely  sure  that  the  road  ahead  is  clear,  change  lanes,  accelerate  and  overtake quickly.     3.  If  the  weather  is  bad,  you  should  drive  under  the  speed  limit.  Never  drive over the speed limit.     4.  Children  get  run  over  because  they  run  out  into  the  street  without  looking.  When  you see children  playing, you should slow down and drive very  carefully.    5. If you have to park on a hill, put the handbrake on. Also put the car in  gear (not neutral) and turn the front wheels towards the side of the road.    6. Use your rear-view mirror frequently to see what the traffic is doing on  the road behind you. Good drivers look in their rear-view  mirrors at least once  every five seconds.    7. Keep your car in good condition. Check often to see whether you have  enough oil  in  your engine,  enough air in  your tyres and enough  water in  your  radiator.  Make  sure  all  your  lights  (headlights,  sidelights  and  indicators)  are  working. Only drive with brakes that are in good condition.        8.  Always  wear  your  seat  belt.  You  do  not  want  to  go  through  the  windscreen if the car stops suddenly.

  1. The land of Ukraine is vast and beautiful, its fields are fertile, the energy of the mighty Dnieper River is enormous. Ukraine represents a large economic region  in  Europe.  Many  giant  industrial  enterprises,  dams  and  hydro-electric  stations,  thousands  of  factories,  new  cities  and  towns  came  into  being  in    2.  Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. It is one of the most beautiful  cities  in  Europe. Its population is some three million people.

There are many engineering,  instrument-building,  food  processing  and  light  industry  establishments  in  Kyiv.  The  Kyiv  plants  and  factories  produce  complex  automatic  lathes,  excavators,  sea  and  river  ships,  motor-cycles,  electrical  measuring  instruments,  planes  machine-tools,  artificial  fibres  and  diamonds.  The  Ukrainian  scientists  discovered  the  way  of  manufacturing  artificial  diamonds  and  developed  the  methods  of  electric  welding.  They  made  outstanding  progress  in  nuclear  physics, chemistry and other branches of science.  5. Ukraine exports manufactured goods to more than 70 foreign countries.  The achievements are so great thanks to the efforts of the Ukrainian people and the fraternal assistance of other people of the world.

  1. Neil Armstrong, an American astronaut, is the first man in history to set foot upon the surface of the Moon. He was born in the town of Wapakoneta, Ohio, on the 5 th of August 1930. The Armstrong branch of the family was Scots- Irish  and  its  origin  can  be  traced  back  seven  generations  to  the  early  1800s  when Captain John Armstrong settled on land in Ohio.    2. It was Neil’s father who took him for his first airplane ride, when he was six years old. By the time Neil  was nine,  he  was building  model airplanes. He  obtained pilot’s license at the age of 16. At the age of twenty he was assigned  to the West Coast jet squadron.           3.    After  he  had  graduated  from  the  University  in  1955,  he  joined  NASA  and was one of the test pilots of the X-15 rocket plane, flying that aircraft to over  200,000 feet and approximately 4,000 miles per hour.    4.  In  1962  he  became  an  astronaut  and  in  1966  he  was  a  commander  pilot  of  “Gemini  8”  when  he  performed  the  first  successful  docking  of  two  vehicles in space.    5. The climax of his life, however, came in 1969 when as a commander of  the “Apollo 11” spacecraft, he and Edwin Aldrin took the lunar module down to  the  very  surface  of  the  Moon.  Armstrong  was  then  the  first  human  being  in  history to set foot upon the very surface of the Moon.    6. He said, “That is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”.  After  the  successful  fulfillment  of  the  program  the  “Apollo  11”  spacecraft   returned to the Earth. Since 1972 Neil Armstrong has been University Professor  of Cincinnati.

  He was one of the greatest scientists and thinkers in history. However, he  was  not  considered very  bright  when  he was  a  child.  When  he  was  nine,  his  father  told  his  mother  he  was  very  worried  about  him  because he was “a bit  dim”. His teachers complained that he had no sense of discipline and had a bad  effect on the other pupils.    When he was fifteen,  he was thrown  out of school,  but a few years later  he  was  allowed  to  study  mathematics  and  physics  at  a  special  technical  university  in  Zurich.  However,  even  at  university  he  was  hardly  “a  good  student”. He rarely attended lectures, and was often trouble with the professors  because he constantly argued with them. One of them told him “You’re clever,      19  extremely  clever.  But  you  have  one  real  fault,  you  never  let  yourself  be  told  anything!”    When he graduated from university he couldn’t get a job, partly because  none  of his  professors would recommend him for one.  Finally he found one in  the Swiss Patent Office in Berne. One of his duties was writing descriptions of  new  inventions.  This  helped  him  to  learn  how  to  write  clearly  and  simply.  He  later said that the only thing that made many problems in science seem difficult  was the language they were described in.     He became very famous for his Theory of Relativity, which concerns time  and  gravity  and  how  things  change  when  they  travel  at  very  high  speeds.  However, all his life he lived very simply and was totally uninterested in money,  power or fame. He could never understand why so many people admired him and wanted to meet him.  He knew that most of them had never read anything he had written and didn’t understand his ideas. “Are they crazy, or am I?” he asked.

 DRIVING A CAR

     Here is a list of good driving habits.  

  1. It is  dangerous  to  drive  too  close  to the car  in  front  of  you.  If it  stops  suddenly, you may not be able to brake in time and then you will crash into it.    2.  Overtake  the  car  in  front  of  you  with  great  care.  When  you  are  absolutely  sure  that  the  road  ahead  is  clear,  change  lanes,  accelerate  and  overtake quickly.     3.  If  the  weather  is  bad,  you  should  drive  under  the  speed  limit.  Never  drive over the speed limit.     4.  Children  get  run  over  because  they  run  out  into  the  street  without  looking.  When  you see children  playing, you should slow down and drive very  carefully.    5. If you have to park on a hill, put the handbrake on. Also put the car in  gear (not neutral) and turn the front wheels towards the side of the road.    6. Use your rear-view mirror frequently to see what the traffic is doing on  the road behind you. Good drivers look in their rear-view  mirrors at least once  every five seconds.    7. Keep your car in good condition. Check often to see whether you have  enough oil  in  your engine,  enough air in  your tyres and enough  water in  your  radiator.  Make  sure  all  your  lights  (headlights,  sidelights  and  indicators)  are  working. Only drive with brakes that are in good condition.        8.  Always  wear  your  seat  belt.  You  do  not  want  to  go  through  the  windscreen if the car stops suddenly.

The importance of learning foreign languages.

I think that foreign languages are very important in our life at a present time.

Different people speak different languages, so the more languages you know, the more people you can communicate with, especially if you go to the other countries.

 English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. We can use our knowledge of English in everyday life. In order to use English, it is enough to turn on a computer, or a TV set, or a player, and you will be exposed to a world of English. English is the language of modern ethnologies, business, sport, and if you want navigate effectively in the Internet, knowledge of English is absolutely necessary.

Today English is spoken by at least 750 million people, and half of those speak it as a mother tongue.

Knowledge of English will allow me to enjoy works of famous English and American poets and writers in original.

I can understand the meaning of songs of my favourite singers and groups.

I know that in the future, knowledge of foreign languages will always help me both in professional and private life. To know English today is absolute necessary for every educated person, for every good specialist.

Studying abroad

Nowadays, more and more students choose to attend schools or universities outside their home countries. Then why studying abroad is so attractive to people even though it often means greater expense and more difficulties? Because those students are bound to benefit considerably from their foreign study experience.

The modern world needs people to have comprehensive knowledge and experiences. The world is no longer a separated one in which each part can afford to be totally independent. The communication and interchange in fields of culture, business, finance and other human activities are so unprecedently frequent and vigorous that the general or specific knowledge of other members of the global village turns to be most important to the prosperity of countries, or the success of peoples. This kind of knowledge is usually better achieved if pursued abroad.

Furthermore, foreign experiences improve one’s willpower and ability of adjusting to a new environment, and one’s capability to overcome various hardships and setbacks. Young people are considered aggressive and ambitious. Their success is not based on comfort or easiness, but on their incessant painstakingly efforts and their never-ending willingness to surpass themselves. In a foreign country they are confronted with greater challenges, more unsteadiness and less help from their families and friends. All these undoubtedly lead to an independent, self-supporting, resourceful person who will also be sympathetic and generous to other people around.

With these advantages, we may conclude that the foreign study experience enlarges a student’s view of the world, as well as improves one’s personality and character, which will guarantee a more splendid future in his life and career.

Car in my life

Nowadays, many people have their own cars. One of the most notable advantages of owning cars is that the car owners receive convenience and comfortable. I live in the countryside, and my community has only one train per an hour. That was very inconvenient for me. My life, however, totally became convenient after I had my own car. The car enables me to go anywhere and anytime. The car also gave me comfortable because I do not have to face anybody during driving. Driving car relaxes me more than taking public transport.

On the other hand, there are two considerable disadvantages in owning cars. The first drawback is air pollution. Automobiles emit exhaust that contains carbon dioxide. According to recent research conducted by the Japanese government, 20 percent of all amount of carbon dioxide emitted in 2010 was made up by automobiles. Now that there are a great number of cars in Japan, the amount of emitted carbon dioxide must be enormous.

The second disadvantage is a car accident. In recent years, traffic accidents have increased significantly in Japan. There are many cases that drivers arise a car accident by drinking alcohol. What is worse, some of the drivers killed passengers. Another research conducted by Japanese police department showed that more than one thousand traffic deaths happened in 2010. We have to take into consideration our safety when driving cars. In conclusion, automobiles give us convenience and comfortable whereas they are the causes of air pollution. In addition, they have a risk of fatal accidents.

My future profession

       I am a student of the Kirovograd trade lyceum. I am in the second year. My future profession is a car-repairer. My future profession is interesting and important. It demands high level of manual skill and a certain period of practical and theoretical training. We are trained to be highly qualified car-repairers.

      We must know the structure of a car and features of metals. A skilled car-repairer like a doctor must define disrepairs and make first-aid repair and remove other disrepairs with help of such tools as a drill, a file, a probe, a hammer and special equipment. To repair a car he must perform such operations as measuring, adjusting, soldering, riveting, milling, painting. Besides, it is necessary to follow the rules of safety techniques to prevent accidents.

      Once a week we have practical training in our workshop and at the end of our study we have practice in the car-repair garage or at the maintenance shop.

Характерна особливість англійської мови полягає в так званому узгодженні часів: час дієслова підрядного речення залежить від часу головного речення. Правило узгодження часів представляє особливу складність, коли присудок головного речення виражений дієсловом в одній з форм минулого часу. В такому випадку в підрядних речення не можуть вживатися форми теперішнього і майбутнього часу дієслів, хоча мова йде про дії, які вчиняються в сьогоденні або будуть вчинятися в майбутньому.

Якщо дієслово в головному реченні стоїть в одному з минулих часів, то і дієслово підрядного речення повинно стояти в одному з минулих часів. В таких випадках правило узгодження часів в англійській мові допускає три основні варіанти:

  1. Якщо дія в підрядному реченні відбувається одночасно з дією в головному реченні, то потрібно використовуватиPast Simpleабо Past Continuous:

She told him,”I am going to the cinema.” – Вона сказала йому: “Я йду в кінотеатр”.

She told him that she was going to the cinema. – Вона сказала йому, що йде в кінотеатр.

  1. Якщо дія в підрядному реченні передує дії в головному реченні, то дієслово в підрядному використовується вPast Perfect або Past Perfect Continuous:

I was told, “Boss was looking for you.” – Мені сказали: “Начальник шукає тебе”.

I was told that boss had been looking for me. – Мені сказали, що начальник мене шукає.

  1. Якщо дія в підрядному реченні йде після дії в головному, то потрібно використовувати один з часів групи Future in the Past (дивіться сторінку “Часи в англійській мові“):

They said: “We will call you tomorrow.” – Вони сказали: “Ми вам подзвонимо”.

They said that they would call us tomorrow. – Вони сказали, що подзвонять нам завтра.

Пряма та непряма мова

Крім того слід пам’ятати, що після слова when завжди вживається Present Simple замість майбутнього часу, якщо мова йде про майбутнє:

I will call you when I get home. – Я передзвоню, коли буду дома.

Також існують виключення з правил:

  1. Час в підрядному реченні може не змінюватися, якщо в ньому зазначено точний час:

He said us: “I was watching the final match of Champions League that took place in May, 24″. – Він сказав нам: “Я бачив фінал Ліги Чемпіонів, що відбувся 25 травня.”

He said us that he was watching the final match of Champions League that took place in May, 24. – Він сказав нам, що бачив фінал Ліги Чемпіонів, що відбувся 25 травня.

  1. Або якщо мова йде про загальновідомий факт:

Nicolaus Copernicus was the first who wrote that earth rotating around the sun. — Миколай Коперник був першим, хто написав, що Земля обертається навколо сонця.
